SMILE, BREATH & MOVE :)
A smile will not only make a day better for other people but yours too.
What is the problem?
I am a guy, who can freak out for anything and born a tension. In short, I overthink. And I think, I heard this about myself from school days, college days and even in professional life. I used to ignore this. But now, I realize I take the stress, but I am improving.
What are the effects of the problem?
I observed the following points when I am stressed out:
- I could feel my heartbeats.
- Stress is totally written on my face (observed while writing an app which involved laptop camera)
- Along with this, my breathing rate was slow.
So, I thought of doing something about it.
The Experiment
I started smiling. Literally a lot of smiling for no reason. Creepy, right? But (big creepy) smiling for at least 2 minutes continuously had a drastic change in me.
- It made me feel better even in the most stressed situation. I could come up with much better solutions.
- I started observing and taking a deep breath for at least 2 minutes.
- It is hard, but during stress, I started taking a walk for at least 10 minutes.
Complaint about the experiment above
I understand smiling all the time is creepy, so I have got a solution for this:
- Try to find an alone place where you can do big creepy smiling.
- Or try to smile a lot while you’re alone. Like in your apartment, or during shower.
- You can also (soft) smile during meetings, sessions or while you work.
More benefits
We have a problem and solution for a period when you’re stressed. But there can be a situation which can keep poking you for a longer duration. Or even you are not stressed at all. Even after this, you should follow the above points:
- It will keep you away from negativity. This will help you work on the correct path.
- Even if you feel negative, let it flow. Don’t try to suppress it. Try to make them positive.
- Nothing is more important than YOU. You’re smart and you can anyway figure out a solution or get over with a problem.
Conclusion
I am 26 years old and fighting an initial stage of hypertension. There is no one in my family with this problem, so this is not hereditary. I don’t want to blame my professional life for it, because if that would have been a situation, everyone must be suffering from the same.
Above solution is working for me. So fight stress and negativity, SMILE, BREATH & MOVE :D
